Position Description

The Data Analyst serves as a gatekeeper for our organization’s data so stakeholders can understand data and use it to make strategic business decisions. This technical role provides technological support to the entire organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Serve as the subject matter expert on all internal data applications
• Maintaining existing data systems and processes, recommending and implementing new solutions as necessary. Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing said data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
• Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
• Knowledge of and ability to use research methods for collection of quantitative and qualitative data.
• Demonstrating the significance of their work in the context of local, national, and global trends that impact both our organization and industry.
• Preparing reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns and predictions using relevant data.
• Collaborating with coworkers and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance.
• Creating appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary.

DECISION MAKING
Handle daily responsibilities with minimal supervision. Refer to supervisor when faced with new or unusual situations.

KNOWLEDGE

Technical skills include knowledge of database languages such as SQL, R, or Python; spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (formulas, reports, graphs, etc.); and data visualization software such as Tableau or Qlik. Mathematical and statistical skills are also valuable to help gather, measure, organize, and analyze data. Knowledge of and ability to use research methods.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 20lbs, walking and climbing stairs). Occasional independent travel required around the area served by Bay Aging.
None of the essential functions of the position can be performed remotely away from the office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a degree in computer science technology, public policy, planning, social sciences, statistics, or other relevant area.
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in data analytics, report generation,
presentation compilation, and analysis for outcomes. Healthcare and/or non-profit analytics experience preferred.

FLSA status: This is a non-exempt position.
